Established in 1987, P.D.M. & Associates consult with and advise Aquatic Farmers and Feed Operations as well as food and pharmaceutical manufactures and ingredient suppliers. We possess extensive aquaculture production and feed technology experience gained from technical, sales and marketing careers with aquaculture, feed and food companies and ingredient suppliers.
The company is a leader in the development of high quality nutritional products and innovative technologies for aquaculture. No two commercial operations are exactly the same. We provide Custom Formulations and environmentally friendly feed formulations for Penaeid Shrimp, Freshwater Prawns, Salmon, Trout, Tilapia, Bass, Flounder, Perch, Catfish and other valuable aquatic species. We work closely with individual farmers to identify needs and requirements, then develop formulation(s) and feeding regimen to meet specific requirements.
The long-term strategy at P.D.M. & Associates is to create high quality nutritional products, production technologies and services for aquatic animal industries worldwide. The results of these pioneering efforts include: original extruded sinking shrimp feed formulations; enzyme feed additives; the commercialization of water borne enrichment with vitamin C to improve the survival of hatchery produced shrimp.
Acting under contract as an Aquaculture Consultant for Central and South American Shrimp producers, P.D.M. & Associates improved Farm Management and Culture Technology, helping farmers achieve consistant, profitable returns. Further production increases were realized by farmers utilizing P.D.M. & A. custom shrimp feed formulations.
Recently P.D.M. & A. developed a vertically integrated business to rear Oysters, Hard Clams and Bay Scallops from hatchery produced seed to market size in multiple off-shore sites. The business was the first permitted in Connecticut waters to utilize mid-water and surface production techniques. The production system utilized upweller nursery systems and suspended HDPE grow-out trays, in arrays, termed Oyster Gardens, to market size. High-value coctail Oysters and Bay Scallops were well accepted in New England Markets.
